What’s Special

Small STEM-focused school, robotics and data pathways

The Downside

Limited electives

Gotham Tech High School offers programs in Robotics and Engineering, Computer Software Design, and Data Science, with opportunities for robotics competitions and coding projects. Students also take college-prep courses in arts, sciences, and world languages.

Gotham Tech opened in 2022 in a temporary Long Island City space. In 2025, it moved into the new Queens Innovation Center, giving it a fresh start with a new leader.

The school’s small, focused setting suits students drawn to STEM, but some may prefer a larger school with more electives and activities. Overall school climate scores are below average on the NYC school survey, which suggests the school is still finding its footing.

The six-story Queens Innovation Center houses four schools, including Gotham Tech. It has science labs, art and music rooms, computer labs, a library, gym and dance studios, an auditorium, and outdoor play and instructional areas. The building also includes therapy and speech rooms, occupational and physical therapy spaces, and medical and guidance suites. Sports are campus-wide. (Lydie Raschka, official reports, 2026)
