Elementary School Guided Search

Starting in kindergarten, your child is eligible to attend a school based on your home address, often referred to as your “zoned” school. This search will help you find your zoned school and explore your other options. If you want to learn more about the kindergarten application process first, read our How to Enroll guide.

I do not have an NYC address

You may not apply to school unless you live in New York City. However, you may explore your options on our website. If you move to the city in the middle of the year, you may enroll your child directly at your neighborhood school or at a Family Welcome Center. Why does my address matter?

All dual language programs are housed in regular zoned or unzoned schools. We will include all those schools in the district or borough(s) you’ve selected.

You may want to consider looking beyond your neighborhood or district for a dual language program. Many have space for students outside their zone or district who speak the target language.

Arabic

There is currently only one Arabic Dual Language program in the city, at P.S./I.S. Mary White Ovington in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Admission to the program is zoned, but students outside the zone who speak Arabic may have priority for some kindergarten seats. We will include this school in your results.

Chinese

There are 17 Chinese Dual Language programs throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. We will include these schools in your results.

French

There are 7 French Dual Language programs throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. We will include these schools in your results.

Haitian Creole

There are 2 Haitian Creole Dual Language programs in Brooklyn. We will include these schools in your results.

Italian

There are 2 Italian Dual Language programs in Manhattan and Brooklyn. We will include these schools in your results.

Japanese

There is currently only one Japanese Dual Language program in the city, at P.S. 147 Isaac Remsen in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Admission to the program is zoned, but students outside the zone who speak Japanese may have priority for some kindergarten seats. We will include this school in your results.

Korean

There is currently only one Korean Dual Language program in the city, at P.S. 32 State Street in Flushing, Queens. Admission to the program is zoned, but students outside the zone who speak Korean may have priority for some kindergarten seats. We will include this school in your results.

Polish

There are two Polish Dual Language programs in Brooklyn and Queens. We will include these schools in your results.

Russian

There are 4 Russian Dual Language programs, 1 in Manhattan and 3 in Brooklyn. We will include these schools in your results.

Spanish

There are 157 Spanish Dual Language programs in all five boroughs. We will include these schools within your borough.

Most gifted and talented programs consist of one class per grade in zoned and unzoned schools across the city. We will include all those schools in the district or borough(s) you’ve selected.

There are five schoolwide G&T programs that are open to students across the city. Four of them serve students in grades K-8. One school (NEST+m) serves students in grades K-12.
