District 30
Home to an eclectic mix of longtime Greek American residents, new immigrants from Latin America, and young artists, and middle class families from all backgrounds. Most children in the district attend their neighborhood schools.
District 30 is located in the northwest section of Queens, bounded by Flushing Bay to its north and the East River to its west, and includes the neighborhoods of Astoria, Jackson Heights, Long Island City, and Sunnyside.
This district includes several popular, family-friendly neighborhoods. Astoria and Long Island City are seeing more rapid change, with new high-rises, young families, and waterfront parks. Sunnyside feels more low-key—playgroups, potlucks, and community crafts. Jackson Heights is rich in Latin American and South Asian culture, known for its festivals and food.
